FAR OUT Murals
Whether you’re a resident, visitor, or just driving through, chances are you’ve noticed the colorful walls calling out from the streets and alleyways, inspiring to slow down and take in some art.
Check out some of the walls you can see in Walsenburg in the images below, and come back soon to see the full map.
**This year’s FAR OUT Mural installations are up and viewable in the alley behind the fire station. We recommend parking at Heritage Park and walking a block north to take a gander, as parking behind the fire station is limited/prohibited.**

History
Started in 2020 by local artist Yul Jorgensen and Walsenburg Downtown Revitalization Committee founder Aubrey Lykins, Walsenburg’s FAR OUT Murals began as a partnership with Meow Wolf in Denver and WDRC.
In 2023, WDRC fully took over fundraising and artist curation, spearheaded by Colorado-based artist and previous WDRC member Max Kauffman. Yul returned in 2023 and 2024 to participate as an artist.
In 2025, local artist and current WDRC member Conor Orr took the reigns as coordinator, and we have additional partnerships to announce in the coming weeks — stay tuned!
We have been able to continue this project thanks to grants, grassroots fundraising efforts, and sponsorships from local businesses. Our goal is to continue to partner with area businesses, residents, and artists to keep our downtown mural project alive and well and synonymous with Walsenburg.
